Instilling a sense of value for nature through stewardship, Growing Up Fields of Color gives underserved youth in SW PA a chance to use native wildflower seed bombs to reseed a meadow. We’ll cover the importance of meadows, related careers & more while being active outdoors & playing in the mud!
The GOOD funds will help instill an understanding, appreciation and connection to the natural world at a young age creating better stewards of the environmental for future generations. Funds from GOOD will be used to offer this workshop FREE to 100 underserved elementary age students from Southwestern Pennsylvania schools helping them meet the state Academic Standards of Environment & Ecology, the purchase of native wildflower seeds from a local nursery and to the purchase of 5 three-man slingshots to disperse the seeds. The compost will be donated in-kind by the local township of Upper St. Clair.
